MMS transcoding

MMS transcoding automatically resizes and converts the media in an MMS message to meet the file size and format requirements of the destination mobile carrier. This prevents the carrier from rejecting media that exceeds its size limit.

With MMS transcoding, you can:

• Lower costs: Failed MMS messages still incur messaging fees. Transcoding prevents carrier rejections caused by file size, avoiding those unnecessary charges.
• Improve deliverability: MMS messages that would otherwise fail due to strict carrier size limits are automatically adjusted and delivered successfully, increasing delivery rates.
• Simplify integrations: Send any volume of messages without building custom validation, compression, or resizing logic. Infobip handles it automatically.

Supported file formats

MMS transcoding supports the following formats:

• Images: JPG, PNG, GIF (non-animated), HEIC/HEIF
• Video: MP4, WebM, MKV
• Documents: PDF

Enable MMS transcoding

MMS transcoding is disabled by default and is not self-service. To enable it for your account, contact your Infobip account manager.
