Send and receive messages on SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, Viber, and Email, make voice calls, and verify users with the Infobip APIs. Build from your own code, through an AI agent, or over telecom protocols such as SMPP and ENUM.

To send your first message, follow the Quickstart. For every endpoint, request, and response, see the API reference.

Make your first call

Three steps from your credentials to a sent SMS.

1

Choose how to authenticate
Most integrations use an API key. Use the one that comes with a self-signup account, or generate one on the API keys page, and send it in the Authorization header as App {your-api-key}. You can also use OAuth 2.0, IBSSO tokens, or Basic authentication. See API authentication.

2

Find your Base URL
Find it on your homepage or on the API keys page, in the format xxxxx.api.infobip.com. It is not a secret. See Base URL.

3

Send the request
Replace {authorization} with the scheme and credentials of your method, and {your-phone-number} with the number you send to. During the free trial, send from the shared test sender InfoSMS. On a self-signup account, send to a verified recipient. To read the response and receive the delivery report, follow the Quickstart.

Send one SMS
1curl -X POST 'https://{baseUrl}/sms/3/messages' \
2 -H 'Authorization: {authorization}' \
3 -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
4 -H 'Accept: application/json' \
5 -d '{
6 "messages": [
7 {
8 "sender": "InfoSMS",
9 "destinations": [
10 { "to": "{your-phone-number}" }
11 ],
12 "content": {
13 "text": "This is a sample message"
14 }
15 }
16 ]
17 }'

Choose how you connect

All options work with the same Infobip account. Choose the one that fits how you work.

REST APIREST API

You call the endpoints directly from your own code, in any language. See API requests and responses and Postman workspace(opens in new tab).

SDKsSDKs
  • Java
  • Python
  • C#
  • PHP
  • Go

You want a typed client in Java, Python, C#, PHP, or Go, or an SDK for mobile and web apps. See SDKs and OpenAPI specification.

MCP serversMCP servers

You want an AI agent to work with Infobip from your IDE or assistant. See MCP servers and Build with AI agents.

SMPPSMPP

You send SMS over SMPP from your own messaging system. See SMPP.

Building an app for Infobip Exchange, or adding Infobip channels to your own product? See Exchange apps and integrations.

Build your integration

The tasks most integrations need after the first call.

Track delivery
A send response means the message was accepted, not delivered. Receive delivery reports at your endpoint. See Webhooks and Message status codes.

Handle errors and retries
Use errorCode and action to decide whether to retry, and check whether a message was accepted before you resend it. See Handling errors and Error code reference.

Stay within limits
Back off when you get HTTP 429, and avoid repeated messages to one number. See Rate limits and throttling and Flooding filter (DCL).

Receive inbound messages
Get the messages customers send to your numbers. See Webhooks and Manage numbers.

Ready for production? Follow the Go live checklist. Get your own sender, move to a paying account, and start with a small share of your traffic.

Send SMS from your own messaging system, and run number lookups over DNS. See SMPP and ENUM.

SecuritySecurity

Secure your integration, check how API traffic is encrypted, safelist the Infobip IP addresses, and share secrets or request security testing. See Security best practices, REST API traffic encryption, IP address safelist, and Security procedures.
