Number Lookup
Number Lookup is the Infobip service that draws information from the Home Location Register (HLR (opens in a new tab)).
In the India region, Number Lookup does not query the HLR directly. Instead, it retrieves information from the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service. If the number has not been ported, the network is determined based on its prefix.
The main advantage of Number Lookup is to ensure message deliverability. Number Lookup provides information, such as:
- Phone number has been ported to another network
- User is in roaming
- Number is still valid
- Number has any permanent or any other errors
This service also allows you to check the status and validity of mobile numbers, and the country/mobile network they are associated with. This can save substantial amounts to global companies with millions of users, improve delivery rates, and optimize processes in real time.
Number Lookup is available over web interface and API.
Number Lookup provides only the country and network information about a user. Location means in which country is this number or whether it is in roaming. Number Lookup cannot be used for Location Based Services to narrow down the user location.

Features
Database Cleaning
Identify whether a mobile phone number is out of use, inactive, ported, or in roaming. It allows you to work with accurate data, optimize commercially and improve targeting, which has an impact on your ROI and customer satisfaction.
Portability Identification
Real-time number portability lookups will optimize messaging and VoIP charging and routing for a range of companies and various telecoms network services.
SIM Swap Fraud Detection
Detect changes on the IMSI (opens in a new tab) number. The IMSI changes can show if there have been illegal activities for the selected mobile phone number. If there is some fraudulent activity, the enterprise provider will get an update about IMSI and the time when IMSI has been changed (next to the same MSISDN (opens in a new tab)). This triggers a notification alarming you of suspicious activity and then asks for additional transaction authorizations before proceeding.
Retrieve Additional MSISDN Information
Get detailed information regarding the queried MSISDN such as operator name and a list of all the operators assigned MNCs. Additionally, this service also features a modified search algorithm, which provides detailed information about a queried MSISDN even if the mobile handset is switched off.
Mobile Phone Number Validation
Identify mobile phone's home network within nearly 400 networks worldwide. This makes it a truly internationally mobile number checking service.
